Dell XPS 13 - Excellence Laptop

Dell XPS 13 - Excellence Laptop

The Dell XPS 13 with Intel Evo is a lovely little laptop with great speed, battery life, and other features.

It comes at the cost of ports, sound quality, and price, but none of these factors are significant enough for us to not suggest this laptop to anyone looking for an ultrabook.

Dell XPS 13 - Excellence Laptop

The Dell XPS 13 continues the history of excellence established by the XPS line. This new model even raises the bar by including Intel Evo certification, which is only found on a tiny number of high-performance laptops.

Everything has been improved to meet the certification standards, from speed and efficiency to performance.

Of course, the improvements will cost you a little more, especially as you upgrade to higher configurations.

1- Specifications:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-1165G7
  • Graphics: Intel Iris Xe Graphics
  • RAM: 32GB 4267MHz LPDDR4x
  • Screen: 13.4" FHD+ (1920 x 1200), 13.4" UHD+ (3840 x 2400).
  • Storage: 2TB M.2 PCIe NVMe

2- Design:

The Dell XPS 13 shines in this area.

The XPS 13 is exceptionally light, weighing only roughly 2.8 pounds, give or take a couple of ounces depending on your setup, thanks to a chassis and lid made from two separate pieces of aluminum.

That said, it's also quite strong, nothing about it seems flimsy.

Topics may interest you:

The XPS 13 is ultra-thin, measuring just 0.58 inches (14.8 mm) at its thickest point, 11.6 inches (296 mm) wide, and 7.8 inches (199 mm) high making it the perfect ultrabook to carry in your bag when you're on the go, the most relevant feature at the time present It will, however, be just as easy to tote throughout the house from room to room.

3- Performance:

The Intel Core i7-1165G7 CPU in the Dell XPS 13 we evaluated has Intel Evo certification, which means Dell collaborated with Intel to enhance the hardware for speed, efficiency, and graphics performance - and it shows.

The previous iteration of the Dell XPS 13 we examined earlier in 2020 was essentially identical to this one save for the 10th-generation i7 and Intel Iris Plus graphics, but the performance increase was significant.

The latest XPS 13 scored 1,539 single-core performance in Geekbench 5, compared to 1,251 single-core performance on the prior generation XPS 13.

This is thanks to the 11th-gen Core i7 processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics.

The new XPS 13's multi-core performance has been improved to 5,432 from 4,781.

In testing, the new XPS 13 scored 1,547 in Time Spy, 4,173 in Firestrike, and a whopping 13,300 in Sky Diver, indicating a significant performance boost.

Meanwhile, the most recent XPS 13 received scores of 901, 2,856, and 10,066, respectively.

In 3DMark, that's a 49 percent improvement.

The latest XPS 13 scored 4,816, making it a terrific multitasker in our PCMark 10 home test.

The previous-generation model had a score of 3,890, which was over 1,000 points lower.

The latest XPS 13 isn't just a pretty face; it's also a beast.

4- Battery life:

The Dell XPS 13 is powered by a 4-cell, 52WHr battery. In terms of battery life, it still outlasts its immediate predecessor, thanks in large part to Intel Evo.

Our PCMark 10 battery test lasted an average of 11 hours and 47 minutes on a single charge, which is roughly double the time the previous XPS 13 lasted in the PCMark 8 battery test.

However, because those two tests are largely apples-to-apples, a stronger indicator is the HD movie test, in which the current XPS 13 lasted 11 hours and one minute vs 9 hours and 40 minutes in prior incarnations.

That's almost as long as a typical rom-com, so getting another viewing out of the battery is a significant improvement.

5- Software and features:

There isn't much bloatware on this laptop because it is one of Dell's higher-end models.

Because it's a Dell, there's a smattering of customer support apps and the like – as well as the bloat that comes with Windows 10 – but it's not outrageous. We were pleased with the software loadout on the gadget because it is all simply uninstalled.

In 2021, any Dell XPS 13 purchased from Dell will come with the Windows 11 operating system.

Though, it must be emphasized that we have not tested the laptop to see how it does with this new OS.

Because the XPS has an IR webcam and Windows Hello, it can log you in with a short facial scan, making logging in as simple as opening the lid. A fingerprint scanner is built into the power button above the backspace key if you want to be extra secure.

6- Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • Amazing design.
  • Amazing 16:10 display.
  • Didn't we mention how lovely it is?
  • Amazing battery life.
  • A reasonable quantity of power.

Cons:

  • The sound quality is adequate.
  • Pricey.

Conclusion:

The Dell XPS 13 is one of my all-time favorite laptops since it does everything well and has received perfect ratings in every review.

These laptops are functional and pleasant to use.

With the newest processors, NVMe solid-state drives, and even Thunderbolt 4 connectors for ridiculously high data transfer rates, it's lightning quick.
